Whether you're going out with your boyfriend or staying in with your girls, Valentines Day is the perfect excuse to act and feel mushy with the people you love. Maybe you want to put on those rose-coloured glasses and feel like the world is full of love and rainbows. Or maybe you just want to cry alone into a tub of Ben and Jerry's that technically isn’t a single serving but will absolutely be finished in one sitting. It's up to you.
Luckily for you, we've put together a list of our favourite movies to watch this V-Day.
1. To All The Boys I've Loved Before
Do you feel like experiencing every single human emotion in the span of an hour and 39 minutes? Well, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the movie for you! But with your Noah Centineo obsession, you probably already fully knew that. Also...the sequel is now streaming on Netflix and we can't wait to find out what happens next.
2. Bridget Jones's Diary
An utter classic that must be watched by singletons and couples alike on Valentine's Day! Bridget is a 30-something single gal in love with her boss, Daniel Cleaver, and with mixed feelings for her old childhood friend, the snobby Mark Darcy. So she keeps a diary to tell the truth about Bridget Jones. The whole truth.
3. Love, Rosie
If you’re in the mood for a solid cry, Love, Rosie will certainly do the job. The classic story of love lost (and found again?) will put tears in your eyes...and Lily Collins and Sam Claflin aren’t too bad to look at either.
4. Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
There’s nothing better than reliving your most awkward teenage years, right? Riiight. This movie is full of cringe-worthy moments, but honestly, it’s delightful and cute and it will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy for young love.
5. The Notebook
The Notebook is beloved by women everywhere for good reason. Allie (Rachel McAdams) is such a warm and likable character, pursued by the equally charming Noah (Ryan Gosling). Their love story withstands many tests but we realize that it lasts into their old age.
6. Mamma Mia
Who needs an S.O. when you can dance and sing along to Mamma Mia?!?! Seriously, it’s scientifically impossible not to enjoy this movie.
7. The Break-Up
The Break-Up with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn makes break-ups funny! Right? Okay, maybe it's too soon. And maybe that newly dumped person is actually just you.
8. A Cinderella Story
This is one of the few Cinderella remakes actually worth watching, A Cinderella Story follows Sam Montgomery (Hilary Duff), a teenage orphan living with a wicked stepmother who treats her more like a servant than family. But Sam’s life isn’t all chores—she has a secret online relationship with a boy who seems like Prince Charming. But when she agrees to meet him in person at their high school dance, she realizes he’s the most popular guy in school.
9. Clueless
You might find this choice odd, but we get so giddy every time we watch Clueless due to the fun fashion and snappy one-liners. (Remember: “Do you prefer fashion victim or ensembly challenged?”). At its core, this is a love story between Cher and Josh. Albeit, it always creeped us out that they were “technically” brother and sister.
10. The DUFF
A funny, lighthearted and relatable chick flick! Perfect for your girls night. We recommend watching with a tub of popcorn and LOADS of sweets!
